Elwin Grout

Elwin Grout is a hard working, devoted family man with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. With his disability, properly working mobility equipment plays a key role in being able to maintain his employment and achieve a genuine quality of life. Grout came to Mobility Unlimited in need of a new vehicle lift and medical bed. Grout works full time as the Direct Service Manager for the Mid-Columbia Council of Governments. Grout and his wife, Virginia, live in The Dallas, Oregon with their three sons’ ages, 10, 12 and 18.
With his new vehicle lift system, Grout is excited to have his independence back. For the past year, Grout had a vehicle lift that he was unable to close alone which hindered his ability to get out and do the things he wanted to do. Grout expressed how the new equipment has changed his life, “I no longer need assistance getting into my vehicle. For one year, I was unable to go and do things for fear of my vehicle being entered because I had to leave it open if I were alone. As a result, there were times I chose not to do things. Now, it’s not a concern. If it is something I want to do, I do it.”
